Description: The blend is 40 % Merlot, 39 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 18 % Cabernet Franc and 3 % Petit Verdot. A fine wine with tight texture, great richness, and wonderful freshness. On the palate, the wine is pure and powerful, the tannins dense and spicy, and the finish of great depth with glorious aromas.
Wine critics:
“The 2014 Potensac offers striking intensity to match its bold, inviting personality. Blue and black stone fruit, grilled herbs, licorice and dark spices make a strong first impression. The Delon family makes a number of top-notch wines, and Potensac is arguably the hidden jewel in the range. Drink this exuberant Médoc over the next handful of years. The blend is 40 % Merlot, 39 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 18 % Cabernet Franc and 3 % Petit Verdot.
Drink 2017 – 2025”
Antonio Galloni, vinous.com (Feb 2017)
“The 2014 Potensac has a well-defined bouquet with oyster-shell tinged black fruit, aromatics that are very evocative of the estuary, perhaps absorbing some of the Gironde. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin on the entry, a mixture of red and black fruit, a pinch of white pepper and a pretty, quite elegant finish. Go for the Grand Vin this year rather than the Deuxime.
Drink 2019 – 2032”
Neal Martin, Wine Advocate (Mar 2017)
“The result of a farily rigorous selection in 2014 (there was more Chapelle than usual) this is typically serious and sturdy with some toasty oak, bright acidity and a well judged balance between fruit and tannin. Potensac tends to age well for its quality level and this will be no exception.”
